Perennial Dance will perform at Jowers Center on the Texas State Campus at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

STAFF REPORT

Perennial Dance will present “Menagerie” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Studio B of the Jowers Center on the Texas State campus. Admission is free and open to the public.

Perennial Dance is a new modern dance company composed of Texas State dance alums. The innovative performance promises to be casual and audience-friendly. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs, blankets, pillows, bean bag chairs or other seating for what the dance company terms the “dance picnic.”

The show will start with an improvisational piece. As the dancers move, local artist Kealy Racca will create a painting inspired by the movement as the performance of the dancers unfolds. The painting will be raffled off during intermission. Raffle tickets will be avaiable for $1 each.

The casual nature of the performance seeks to remove the stuffiness and formality of a dancing arts piece while retaining its thought-provoking qualities. The dance company hopes to inspire while creating a fun performance for both the audience and the dancers.
