STAFF REPORT
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFAO) honored the City of San Marcos with its “Distinguished Budget Presentation Award” for the city’s 2009 budget and the effectiveness of the budget as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device.
The city team that developed the budget includes Assistant Finance Director Heather Hurlbert, Senior Accounting Specialist Christina Tureaud, Finance Director Steve Parker, Accountant Cynthia Zavala, Accounting Manager Ismael Garcia, Assistant City Manager Collette Jamison and Interim City Manager Laurie Moyer.
The GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program in 1984 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s recommended practices on budgeting, recognizing the individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.
