CTMC to have Baby Fest on Sunday

This bunny might be able to use an examination at the “Toy Hospital” at Baby Fest at Central Texas Medical Center on Sunday.

Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC), 1301 Wonder World Drive, will host its first annual Baby Fest Sunday from 1-4 p.m. The event will include almost 30 businesses providing information and services for baby, mom and family. Baby Fest is free and open to the public.

The day will include door prizes, a children’s stuffed animal hospital, an appetizer buffet, mini-tours of CTMC’s new Childbirth Center and a variety of “Health Talks” throughout the day.

“We have a lot of valuable information for mom and family, and we have a lot of fun for the children,” said CTMC’s Public Relations Coordinator Tabitha Walsh. “We’re hosting a doll and teddy bear clinic in our children’s activity room.”

The “Toy Hospital” will allow children to bring their favorite dolls or stuffed animals for and examination. The children will be able to “doctor” their toys will real medical equipment and learn a few tips from the medical staff at CTMC. The toy hospital will be open for the duration of the event from 1-4 p.m.

Health talks to be included in the event are “Baby’s Development Milestones”  presented by Corridor Primary Care from 1:15-2 p.m. and “Health & Fitness for Mom”  from 2:15-3 p.m. presented by CTMC’s dieticians and Dr. Maggie Young, instructor of CTMC’s Fit for Pregnancy Exercise Program. “Baby Nutrition Options” will take place from 3:15-4:00 p.m. and will be presented by CTMC’s Nutrition Department, including a panel of local mothers who have had experience with breastfeeding at work, wet nursing and other ways of providing nutrition for baby.
