UPDATED 3:04 p.m. JULY 8: Due to rain, this week’s concert has been moved to the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 East Hopkins Street.
STAFF REPORT
Grammy Award-winning folk singer-songwriter Terri Hendrix, a San Marcos native, will perform weather permitting at the Summer in the Park Series tonight.
The concert is 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at San Marcos Plaza; in case of rain, the event is moved to the San Marcos Activity Center. Hendrix won a Grammy in 2002 for co-writing “Lil’ Jack Slade” with the Dixie Chicks.
Her performance will coincide with a one-night-only sculpture exhibition by student in Texas State University’s School of Art and Design. The installation, titled “Summer Light Exhibit,” will be in the park 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Upcoming performance in the Summer in the Park series include Brave Combo on July 15; Jumpstart on July 22; Klassic Kountry Gold & O’Malarkey on July 29; Joel Guzman and Sarah Fox on Aug. 4 and Two Tons of Steel on Aug. 12.
The series is produced by the San Marcos Performing Arts Association and the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation department. For information, call 512-393-8400 or visit the performing arts association’s web site here.
