A longtime country music staple of Club 21 in Uhland, “The Gathering,” is getting both a venue change and a format change. Starting Tuesday, The Gathering will be held at the Geronimo VFW, 6808 North SH 123, from 7-10 p.m., and will feature dancing and food, in addition to the country tunes.
The Gathering at Club 21, one of the oldest dance halls in Texas, has always been about country music, old and new, and that won’t change. Through the years, it has featured both local and national musicians, and that won’t change, either.
However, the famous weekly jam sessions will now feature a house band and three different entertainers each month. The month of July will see Lembo Allen, Karlene Fey and Hayden C. James each get a set and set toes to tripping the light fantastic on the dance floor at the VFW. The post’s full kitchen and bar will be open, as well.
The members of the Geronimo VFW are looking forward to the venue change with hopeful enthusiasm.
“Guess you can tell this is a really exciting new project,” said Barbara Owen of the Geronimo VFW Ladies Auxiliary. “And the show benefits our VFW.”
Tickets to the The Gathering are $7 for adults and $3 for children younger than 12 years old. For more information, or to make table reservations call, (512) 825-2180. More information on the event is also available at thegatheringmusicshow.com.
