Cheatham Street Warehouse’s Big Fest starts today

Big Fest! 2010 is being held this year June 25-27 at Cheatham Street Warehouse, 119 Cheatham St.

Big Fest is in its fifth year and originally started as ‘Big John’s Annual Birthday Bash’ for San Marcos singer, songwriter and guitarist ‘Big’ John Mills. Big Fest! has become a three day musical festival, celebrating Texas and Americana music and the rich musical heritage and legacy of Cheatham Street Warehouse wguke raising money to preserve this legacy through the Cheatham Street Music Foundation.

Singers, songwriters, and musicians donate their time and talent to support the foundation and a silent auction will be conducted through the course of the festival.

The Cheatham Street Music Foundation is a non-profit organization founded to preserve the history of Cheatham Street Warehouse, as well as to endorse Texas Music and to encourage and promote young and up-and-coming Texas singers and songwriters. The foundation builds upon the great history and tradition of Cheatham Street Warehouse trough informational dialogues and panel discussions for young musicians, and, of course, the weekly ‘Songwriter Circle’ every Wednesday.

Artists include Walt Wilkins, The Josh Abbott Band, Midnight River Choir, Zack Walther and the Cronkites, Big John Mills and The Texas Road Dawgs, John Arthur Martinez, Texas Renegade, Aaron Einhouse Band and many more. Silent Auction items include: CDs, autographed guitars, framed handwritten song lyrics, and much more.
