San Marcos resident to compete at Miss Texas USA pageant

Pageant hopeful Terissa Kelton graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas State.

San Marcos actress and resident Terissa Kelton will represent San Marcos at the annual Miss Texas USA Pageant in Houston on September 3-5.

Kelton attended Texas State, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in acting and a BA in mass communications-electronic media.

Kelton’s record of community service starts at Texas State, where she was a community relations officer for Bobcat Build, the student service organization. She served as public relations officer for an American Cancer Society fundraiser, Relay For Life-Texas State University. She served in a similar capacity for the environmental advocacy group Earth First!, as well as for the Theatre National Honor Society, Alpha Psi Omega. Kelton also volunteered for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Central Texas.

Kelton has appeared in several film and commercial parts in and around the area. She is featured in “Homecoming,” a film premiering in San Marcos Saturday at the Texas State Theatre Building at 7:30 p.m.
