CTMC to hold 'Baby Fest'

STAFF REPORT

Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) will hold its first annual Baby Fest on July 11 from 1-4 p.m.

“Within Hays County, we have so many great resources for mom, baby and family,” CTMC Director of Patient Care Lana Cameron said. “Moms and moms-to-be are already incredibly busy so it is important that we bring all of these resources and organizations together for a one-stop-shop.”

The fest will include more than 30 businesses providing information and services for babies, moms and families. The free community event and family day also will include door prizes, activities for children, an appetizer buffet, mini-tours of CTMC’s new childbirth center and “health talks’ throughout the day.

In late 2009, CTMC completed a $35 million expansion and renovation on a 64,000-square-foot women’s center that includes all private rooms, a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a new cardiac inpatient nursing unit with all private rooms. It also includes an on-site, high-risk delivery suite and a customized cesarean section suite. The event will include tours of the new facility by childbirth center associates.

The Baby Fest booths will include vendors such as baby boutiques, eco-friendly products, vaccinations for the family, baby safety and nutrition, physician offices, car seat fittings, pregnancy massage and exercise and healthcare services.

Among the health talks will be such topics as “Baby’s Development Milestones,”“Baby Nutrition Options,” and “Health & Fitness for Mom.”
