STAFF REPORT

In 1978, some residents may remember, the successful Roger Corman cult classic movie, “Piranha,” was filmed at Aquarena Springs. Since then, the horror movie genre has not touched San Marcos. That is, not until now.

“Homecoming,” a locally produced horror film written by recent Texas State graduate Dorell Anthony and directed by Texas State alumnus Steve Bazan, will premier at a free screening on June 26. The event will take place in Room 209 of the Texas State Theatre Building at 7:30 p.m.

The stars of the film include many Texas State grads and students, including Rebecca Mummert as Claire Richards, the lead character. The movie takes place at fictional Marvin High School, where the title “homecoming queen” and the events that surround it, will haunt them all.

The suspense-laden thriller, “Homecoming,” is Dorell’s first full-length script.
