Hernandez Elementary to host science expo

Hernandez Elementary School will host a Science Expo Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The expo will have 22 educational booths for students to look at, learn from and experience. Many different members of the community, like Edible San Marcos, will be there to show science ideas and talk to the students about the various careers they could choose in science.

The purpose of the expo is illustrate how rewarding and fun scientific knowledge can be and to unite the community and the school with that goal.

Edible San Marcos has been involved with Hernandez since August of 2009, when it helped the students install a school garden. The school has been working on being a “green” school.

Founded in 2008 as part of Sustainable San Marcos, Edible San Marcos is a non-profit organization fostering a relationship between gardening, education, food and the community.
