A logo designed by San Marcos High School student (SMHS) Allison Serna will be used this year for Magic Mirror, Inc.’s Reading Heroes Camp.
Magic Mirror, Inc. is a non-profit organization that conducts summer enrichment programs for students with reading difficulties. The organization held a contest for a logo design to be used on t-shirts and promotional material for its Reading Heroes Camp for children with dyslexia and related reading disorders. Serna submitted the winning design.
Magic Mirror Executive Director Laura Younts contacted SMHS art teacher Thomas Rogers, who agreed to present the project to his art students. The logo was to reflect the themes of children, literacy and heroes.
“Last month he (Rogers) gave me a folder full of wonderful designs which I took to our March Board of Directors’ meeting,” Younts said. “We voted and selected a design by Allison.”
Younts visited SMHS and met with Principal Michelle Darling and Rogers to notify Serna that she was the winner.
Magic Mirror, Inc. serves mostly children in Hays County, but any child from the surrounding areas is eligible to attend the camp. For more information about the organization and the camp, visit www.readingheroes.org or call (512) 392-2664.
