Price Seniors Center will have benefit musical show

051010priceThe Price Seniors Center will be the site of a musical benefit featuring the songs of a century of music.

A musical show, 20th Century Celebration, will take place at the Price Seniors Center, 222 West San Antonio Street, starting Friday.

The show, a benefit for the center, will feature singers, dancers and actors as they salute the century in song. The music will cover each decade with tunes that include George M. Cohan’s “Give My Regards to Broadway,”  the Glenn Miller hit “Chattanooga Choo-Choo,” Leiber and Stoller’s iconic Elvis tune “Jailhouse Rock,” and many more. Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,”  K.C. and the Sunshine Band’s “Shake Your Booty,” and the Bette Midler hit “From a Distance” also are eatured in the first half of the program.

The second act will feature favorite songs from hit musicals, including Annie Get your Gun, Hello Dolly, Guys and Dolls, and more.

The show will have six performances, with the first being Friday at 7:30 p.m. Additional shows are Saturday at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The following weekend, shows will take place on May 21 at 7:30 p.m and on May 22 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $15 and are available by calling (512) 392-2900 Monday-Friday between 4-6 p.m. Tickets will also be available at the door at the time of the show.

The benefit for the Price Seniors Center is sponsored by the San Marcos Performing Arts Association, The Greater San Marcos Area Seniors Association and the Grains of Sand Creative Arts Association.
