The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Division and Time Warner Cable are once again teaming up to bring the summer Movies in Your Park program to San Marcos Plaza Park, 205 South C. M. Allen Parkway.

Kicking off the program will be a pre-summer showing of the Disney film, Up,  on May 7 at the second annual Movies in Your Park Eco-Night, hosted by Keep San Marcos Beautiful (KSMB).

KSMB is the city’s newest initiative to improve the beauty and image of the community. The KSMB event will feature a showcase of local organizations, businesses and programs promoting earth-friendly ways to live in the San Marcos community.

The eco-night showcase will begin at 6:30 p.m. at San Marcos Plaza Park, featuring activities and demonstrations, as well as information about recycling, conservation, beautification and sustainability.

“This event is a great way for children and families to learn about the Keep San Marcos Beautiful initiative and how their actions directly impact the goal to make San Marcos the most beautiful city in the state of Texas,” said Heather Powdrill, the city’s community beautification coordinator.

The Movies in Your Park series will begin June 8 and feature nine movies, including  Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Monsters vs. Aliens, Astro Boy, Imagine That, Fame, Coraline, Shorts, and Where the Wild Things Are.
Bring a blanket or lawnchairs for seating.
