SMBA to hold dedication ceremony for Peña

Captain Paul Peña, San Marcos Baptist Academy graduate, killed in action in Afghanistan.

San Marcos Baptist Academy (SMBA) will hold a ceremony Saturday at 1 p.m., dedicating a tree on the SMBA campus in honor of Captain Paul W. Pena, a 2000 graduate who was killed in action in Afghanistan last January.

The dedication plaque is being provided by the Canyon Lake Area chapter of the Blue Star Mothers. Paul Peñas mother, Cecilia Peña, was active in Blue Star Mothers, an organization for mothers who have or have had children honorably serving in the military.

The Blue Star Mothers will present a Gold Star banner to Ms. Peña at the ceremony in recognition of her son’s ultimate sacrifice.
