Pedernales Electric Cooperative’s (PEC) Board of Directors has announced that 13 PEC members will run for board positions in the June 19 election.
Members will elect directors for District 4 and District 5.
The District 4 candidates are Ted Lehr of Austin, Geoffrey VanderPal of Driftwood, Ken Rigsbee of Austin, Deborah Ballew of Austin, Dan W. Pedersen of Lakeway, Tom Griebel of Austin, Chris Perry of Dripping Springs, and Bob Driscoll of Austin.
The District 5 candidates are Joe Summy of Johnson City, Ross Fischer of Kendalia, Steven Carriker of Dripping Springs, Thornton Keel of Spicewood, and Don Casey of Cypress Mill.
The order of candidates on the ballot was determined by a random drawing conducted by representatives of Election Services Corporation (ESC), the independent company conducting PEC’s election.
PEC will hold a public forum on April 27, when members can meet board candidates and hear them communicate their credentials, experience and views. The event will begin at 5 p.m. at PEC headquarters, located at 201 South Avenue F in Johnson City. The meeting also will be live-streamed over PEC’s website.
Each candidate will have four minutes to address topics of their choice. Following the candidates’ addresses, members at the event will have the opportunity to meet the candidates individually and ask questions.
Ballots, candidates’ biography information and voting instructions will be mailed by ESC to all PEC members by May 5. Members may return completed ballots by mail using the included prepaid return envelopes, or they may vote online through ESC’s secure website.
Mail-in and online voting must be completed by June 11. Members also can vote in person at the annual membership meeting June 19 in Johnson City, where election winners will be announced.
More information about the election, including maps outlining directors’ district boundaries, is available on www.pec.coop.
