The Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center recognized April as Sexual Assault and Child Sexual Abuse Awareness Month on April 16 by unveiling a mural designed to heighten awareness of the issue by encourage people to envision a world without child sexual abuse.

The mural is located at the Hays County Justice Center after the Hays County Commissioners Court granted the request by District Clerk Cecilia Adair, who is an HCWC board member.

The court agreed suggested that the mural be painted on movable canvasses rather than the wall itself so that it could move with the Justice Center to the new Hays County Government Center when it is completed. The mural, created by students in San Marcos High School’s Art Club and National Art Society, was designed on three large canvasses.

Adair and Hays County Judge Liz Sumter (D-Wimberley) were among those who spoke at the unveiling ceremony.
