Jorge Luis Borges (Aug. 24, 1899–June 14, 1986) is the author of “The Garden Of Forking Paths.”
The Great Books Discussion Group will take on Jorge Luis Borges’ “The Garden Of Forking Paths” when it meets on April 19 at 7 p.m. at the San Marcos Public Library, 625 East Hopkins Street. New members are welcome to join at anytime.
“The Garden of Forking Paths” was first translated into English in Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine in 1948, but the story is much more than a spy mystery. Argentine poet Borges’ strange and charmed fiction presages hypertext projects and digital media by at least 40 years.
After winning the first Prix Fomentor, also known as the International Publisher’s Prize, Borges became instantly famous in the 60s for his intellectual and imaginative prose.
The Great Books Discussion Group meets the third Monday of each month. For more information, call the library at (512) 392-6470.Email | Print
