STAFF REPORT
Two members of the Hays County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) — Sergeant Sam Stock and Deputy Amy Stacy — received Outstanding Team awards from the 100 Club of Central Texas for their efforts at a collision scene last Oct. 17.
Early that morning, Stock and Stacy were dispatched to the scene of a collision at the San Marcos River bridge on the Old Bastrop Highway. A car had driven off the bridge and overturned. Screams for help could be heard.
Learning that an occupant was still in the vehicle, Stock and Stacy entered the water with fire personnel from the South Hays and the San Marcos Fire Department (SMFD). The driver of the vehicle was rescued and transported to Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC).
The awards were presented at the 100 Club of Central Texas awards banquet, held at the Texas Disposal Systems (TDS) Exotic Game Ranch on April 9.
