McCabe receives MAA instructional honor

Terry McCabe, assistant professor of mathematics and associate director of the Mathworks program at Texas State, has been recognized with the Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics in Texas Award by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).

The honor was announced during the MAA’s annual Texas Section meeting held at Abilene Christian University on April 10.

McCabe has been involved with Mathworks for almost two decades. He is one of the co-authors of the Mathworks curriculum that is being piloted by more than 1,300 middle school students across Texas.

The MAA is the largest professional society that focuses on mathematics accessible at the undergraduate level.

Texas Mathworks is a center for innovation in mathematics education at Texas State. With numerous outreach programs and summer math camps, Mathworks enlists both students and faculty in developing model programs and self-sustaining learning communities that engage Texas students from all backgrounds in doing mathematics at a high level.
