STAFF REPORT
San Marcos was recently designated a “Texas Treasures Community” by First Lady Anita Perry. The First Lady’s Texas Treasure Awards, originated by the Texas Historical Commission, are given to towns in recognition of their excellence in historic preservation and for the individuals and local organizations that work hard to preserve the town’s authentic Texas sense of place.
The designation was celebrated at last week’s city council meeting. Among those on hand to celebrate were local luminaries Ollie Giles and Ofelia Vasquez-Philo, Mainstreet Program Director Kelly Franks and the Deputy Executive Director of the Texas Historical Commission Terry Colley.
Thumbs Up to Kelly Franks!!!!
