San Marcos officials plan to reopen Comanche Street to through traffic before the end of Friday. The road has been closed since March 29 for the installation of an 8-inch sanitary sewer line.
The project is now substantially complete. The contractor will temporarily repair the pavement and remove traffic control signs to allow access for Texas State buses and the general public.
The roadway will be closed again for an expected three days at the end of April for final milling, permanent re-paving and striping.
Haley Nelson Construction, LLC, began the project on March 29, estimating it would take four weeks. Working an expedited schedule, the contractor shortened the closure to two weeks.
