CVB to hold ribbon cutting

The City of San Marcos Convention and Visitor Bureau has been renovated.

The San Marcos Convention and Visitor Bureau (CVB) is holding an open house and ribbon cutting Thursday (March 18) from 3:30-6 p.m., to showcase its new office space within the city’s tourist information center.

During a two-month renovation project, common areas were converted to various offices for CVB staff members.

The CVB is the official destination marketing organization of San Marcos, which welcomes an average of 16,000 world travelers to the tourist information center annually.

The CVB is a division of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce (SMACC). Through a partnership with the City of San Marcos, the chamber provides contractual services by administering hotel occupancy tax through the management and professional services of the CVB.

After more than a decade of service to visitors, the previous tourist information center was relocated from the Interstate-35 frontage road near exit 206 to where the existing building stands at the southbound I-35 access road and Riverside Drive (617 North I-35). The present center was built next to the City of San Marcos Nature Center in 2000.
