Orchesis in last year’s production, “Dancers in Flight.”
Texas State’s Orchesis Dance Company will perform its annual production, “Side Show,” on March 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Jowers Studio 178 on the campus of the university. The public is invited to attend. Tickets are $5, cash only, at the door.
“Side Show” is an original and eclectic mix of dances that spotlights a variety of styles and cultures. The show will feature the work of Orchesis with a few guest performances by other dance groups and students of the dance department.
Reese Rosario, the associate artistic director for Orchesis, said that “Side Show” is a “great way to support dance at Texas State, learn about modern dance, as well as other types of dancing, fulfill requirements to see a show, and to simply enjoy the art of dance.”
Established in 1981, Orchesis provides student dancers with a creative outlet for their talents and takes part in community service activities, including sponsoring scholarships, volunteering and donating.
