The Points of View (Puntos de Vista) Festival coming to Texas State has extended its deadline for registration to March 15.
The event is a competition featuring documentaries and will be held on the campus of the university on April 8. The festival also includes workshops.
Points of View is sponsored by the Center for the Studies of Latino Media and Markets (CSLMM) at Texas State.
Universities and colleges offering mass communication and film production programs in the U.S., Mexico, Spain, Latin America and the Caribbean have been apprised of the festival and asked to invite their students to participate.
Sindy Chapa, associate professor and CSLMM associate director, said, “Students are motivated through this type of documentary competition to express their ideals, perceptions, hopes and ‘points of view ‘on life, thus the title selected.”
The submitted documentaries should be 15 to 20 minutes long and must be in Spanish.
Three awards, ranging from $500 to $2,000, will be given to the best of the documentaries. The best of the documentaries will be exhibited on HITV (Hispanic Information and Telecommunications Network) as well as on the Internet.
