Texas State senior forward John Rybak earned a spot on the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VI team after posting a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) in his first semester of graduate studies in business administration.
Rybak earned a bachelor’s degree with a major in business marketing in 2009.
A two-year starter for the Bobcats, Rybak has started 21 of Texas State’s 22 games this season, averaging 10 points per game. Rybak leads Bobcats with 2.0 three-point field goals per game and a free-throw percentage of 88.9 (40 for 45). He is second on the Texas State team with 1.9 assists per game and third in rebounds with 91. Rybak scored 30 points earlier this season against Texas Christian and snagged ten rebounds against Texas.
Rybak was an All-Southland Conference academic first team selection in 2008-09 and has been a member of the SLC Commissioner’s honor roll twice. He also received Texas State’s Oak Farms Dairy Academic Award each of the past two years and was named the Bobcat Award winner each of the past two years for displaying the team’s most consistent attitude and effort.
Rybak transferred to Texas State last year after playing two seasons at Akron.Email | Print
