The Texas State women’s basketball team still is looking for its first win in the Southland Conference after an 82-59 loss to Lamar Saturday afternoon at Strahan Coliseum.
The loss dropped Texas State to 4-12 overall and 0-5 in the Southland Conference. Lamar is on the other end of the league at 15-4 and 5-0.
The Bobcats shot only 23.2 percent (seven for 30) in the first half as Lamar took a 36-21 lead to intermission. Lamar led from the opening basket, a three-pointer by Jenna Plumley 17 seconds after the tip. Texas State came back to within 12-11, but Lamar scored the next five points and increased its lead steadily through the game.
Lamar’s Kalis Lloyd led all scorers with 28 points. Plumley chipped in 14 for the Cardinals and Darika Hill added 10. Victoria Davis led the Bobcats with 14 points, while Kelsey Krupa added 13.
Texas State goes on the road this week, playing at Texas-San Antonio Wednesday (7 p.m.) and at Texas-Arlington Saturday (4 p.m.).
