STAFF REPORT
The opening reception for the “Hands-on” exhibit at the Walker’s Gallery will take place at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 East Hopkins Street, from 5-7:30 p.m. Saturday. The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular Activity Center hours.
The exhibit is a collection of artworks by local artists interpreting the theme “Hands-on.” The exhibit will be open through Feb. 26.
The artworks explore the hand-made and the uses of the hand in a society that increasingly rewards hand-eye coordination for video games and Twitter, while placing less value on what the hand can actually create.
The Activity Center is open Monday- Thursday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Activity Center is closed on Sunday.
The exhibit is sponsored by San Marcos Area Arts Council and the City of San Marcos with support from the San Marcos Arts Commission.
