Friedman to speak at Texas State

Texas Agriculture Commissioner candidate Kinky Friedman will be on the Texas State University campus Wednesday to speak about his on-going primary contest against Hank Gilbert.

Friedman will speak at the Texas State College Democrats’ meeting at 5:30 the LBJ Student Center’s Teaching Theater on the fourth floor. The College Democrats’ meeting will last approximately an hour and, as always, is open to the public.

Friedman is campaigning on a plan to increase the number of farmer co-ops, improve production of biofuels and bioenergy, create animal rescue facilities in every county, and expand the market for Texas agriculture products.

“The Texas State College Democrats cherish the opportunity to inform our community on important issues that directly affect their lives,” said Adrian Zamora, president of the Texas State College Democrats. “Giving community members and students the opportunity to engage with local and statewide candidates is very beneficial and rewarding to both our organization and community.”

The meeting will be the first of the spring semester for the College Democrats, who say they will offer the Texas State and San Marcos communities the opportunity to learn about numerous statewide and local Democratic candidates on a weekly basis.
