San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz presented a special proclamation to Mayor Pro Tem Kim Porterfield in honor of her role in reviving Student Government Day at San Marcos High School.

The re-tooled Student Government Day was a cooperative event including the San Marcos City Council, the San Marcos High School Student Council and Texas State University Associated Student Government (ASG).

Thirty high school students participated in mock city council, school board and county commissioner meetings. The day was a way to immerse students in the day-to-day workings and challenges of local government.
