Chris Threadgill made a free throw in the final minute, capping fourth quarter rally to give the San Marcos High School boys basketball team a 56-55 win against Georgetown at the Snake Pit last Friday night.
Threadgill’s free throw came after guard Colin Hart made his only three-pointer of the night to knot the game at 55-55.
The Rattlers began to rally from ten points down late in the third quarter, trimming their deficit to 43-37 going to the fourth period. J.D. Shearer made a three-pointer at the start of the period to bring the Rattlers within 43-40, then the Rattlers battled to tie the knot for the next six minutes before Hart’s shot.
The Rattlers improved to 5-5 overall, while Georgetown dropped to 5-7. D.J. Gardner led the Rattlers with 13 points, followed by Threadgill with ten.
The San Marcos girls team struggled again last Friday in a 69-39 loss to Akins. The Rattlers fell behind 10-5 after one quarter, 29-19 after two and 51-25 after three.
Danielle Doria scored six points to lead the Rattlers, who fell to 5-8.
