A second half collapse at Smithson Valley led to the San Marcos Rattlers losing their second straight boys basketball game Tuesday night, 80-67.
In some respects, the game was a carbon copy of the Rattlers loss to Cibolo Steele on Nov. 20. In each case, the opposition cooked San Marcos in the second half.
Tuesday night, Smithson Valley outscored the Rattlers, 55-27, in the second half, after the Rattlers took a 40-30 halftime lead. Seguin outscored San Marcos, 44-23, in the second half.
Alex Austin led the Rattlers with 19 points against Smithson Valley, followed by Colin Hart with 14 points and Chris Threadgill with 13 points. Smithson Valley’s Jordan Pierce led all scorers with 23 points.
The Rattlers will play their next game next Tuesday, Dec. 1, at home against New Braunfels Canyon. The Rattlers will play in the Seguin Tournament later next week.Email | Print
