Texas State middle blocker Amber Calhoun was named the Southland Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week Monday by the league office.
A native of Houston, Calhoun took charge in the middle, registering 13 blocks to help Texas State sweep Texas-Arlington and Sam Houston State, then win 3-2 win against Lamar. The sophomore tied her career high seven blocks and added six kills in the win against Sam Houston State.
For the week, she recorded 20 kills on .273 hitting to move the Bobcats into a first place tie in the Southland Conference West Division with Sam Houston State at 11-3 in the league. Central Arkansas, at 14-0 in the league, has clinched the East Division and the league’s regular season title.Email | Print
