Home Channel News (HCN) named McCoy’s Building Supply of San Marcos as the 2009 Pro Dealer of the Year during the annual Pro Dealer Industry Summit, held last week in Phoenix, AZ.
Despite the recession and problems in the national housing market, McCoy’s was the only dealer on HCN’s listing of the top 500 national building supply pro dealers to show an increase in sales during 2008.
“This year, in looking over our Top 500 list and talking to industry sources, McCoy’s was a clear choice,” said HCN Editor-In-Chief, Ken Clark. “Besides their growth in 2008 — bucking the industry trend — their recent investment in a new headquarters building reflects the company’s belief in their business and confidence in the future of the industry.”
Founded in 1927, McCoy’s has evolved from a small, one-store operation in Galveston, into an expansive regional corporation with 83 stores located throughout five states and annual sales in excess of $600 million.
“McCoy’s isn’t immune to the economic downturn, but our crews have worked very hard to continue to serve our customers like nobody else,” McCoy’s President and CEO Brian McCoy said. “This award is a testimony to what dedicated team members McCoy’s has. In the commons area McCoy’s headquarters building is a display listing its 500 most tenured employees. The average employee tenure at McCoy’s is 6.3 years. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, average employment tenure in the United States is 4.1 years, with retail jobs like McCoy’s typically having a shorter tenure at 2.9 years.Email | Print
