The Texas State volleyball team is on a four-match winning streak after defeating Texas-San Antonio (UTSA) in straight sets Saturday at Strahan Coliseum.
The Bobcats felled UTSA by scores of 25-23, 25-19 and 31-29. Jessica Weynand finished with 12 kills and eight digs. Mo Middleton had 10 kills and nine kills. Setters Brittany Collins and Shelbi Irvin combined for 36 assists.
“We stayed focus today,” Texas State head coach Karen Chisum said. “It was a great crowd and win for us today. The atmosphere was amazing.”
Last Thursday night, the Bobcats put down Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 3-1, at Strahan Coliseum by scores of 20-25, 25-6, 25-20 and 25-18). Collins topped 30 assists for the fourth time this season, while Weynand chipped in 13 kills and A.J. Wattington added 12 kills.
The Bobcats are 8-9 overall and 2-0 in the Southland Conference after winning four consecutive matches. They go on the road this week, playing at Sam Houston State Thursday and at Lamar Saturday.
