Water line construction will temporarily close road


For the next two months, starting Sept. 14, River Road will be closed to through traffic from Davis Lane to Aquarena Springs Drive, for the construction of a new water line. Traffic will be detoured to Davis Lane, Aquarena Springs and Uhland Road.

The contract for the project was awarded by the San Marcos City Council to Smith Contracting Company. The city will require the contractor to allow access to all mailboxes and driveways during the construction. The project is estimated to take eight weeks.

The River Road Waterline Project is a Capital City Improvements Project costing $310,901. For additional, information call the city’s Capital Improvements Department at (512) 393-8130.

  1. Wasn’t this stretch of road JUST CLOSED a few months ago for a similar project?? Seems like we could coordinate schedules a little better in the City departments and only, you know, tear up the road once…
