The 4th Annual Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) will recognize the winners of its Annual 9-1-1 Calendar Contest in a ceremony at the state Capitol on Sept. 11.
This contest is part of an effort to acknowledge the importance of 9-1-1 as an emergency tool and to inform and educate the thousands of children throughout the 10 county region. This year’s theme “911 and Emergencies,” stresses the importance of knowing how and when to call 9-1-1 in an emergency. Award recipients are from area elementary schools.
Recipients of the Annual Emergency Communications Awards will also be recognized. The awards are given to individuals who take 9-1-1 calls across the region.
The awards will be presented by Travis County Sheriff Greg Hamilton, with Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo acting as emcee.
CAPCOG is the regional organization that oversees the funding and planning for 9-1-1 emergency communications in the ten county area.
