A second phase of the City Hall parking lot reconstruction will start on Monday.
Parking lot closures will be expanded to include the area behind City Hall and the Public Services Building until Aug. 6.
Citizens will be able to access city facilities and park in the main parking with access from the driveway next to St. John’s Catholic Church on Hopkins Street. Signs are set up directing citizens to the open driveway.
The small north side parking lot, the driveway from Charles Austin Drive and the parking area between City Hall and the Public Services Building, will all be closed for the new phase of construction.
Central Texas Road (CRT) will be removing asphalt from these areas on Monday and Tuesday.
On Aug. 5, Wednesday CRT will pave phases 1 and 2 from Charles Austin/Hopkins St. to the main parking lot. Parking will be re-opened on Aug. 6.
City employees are asked to park in back of the Municipal Building and along the drive next to the church to conserve spaces available to the public.
St. John’s has granted the city permission to use a section of their parking lot next to the city offices. Signs will be posted to indicate the church parking area available for city use. Drivers are asked to use only those designated spaces.
The entire repaving process is expected to be finished by mid-August. For more information, call the city’s public services department at (512) 393-8036.
