A Buda man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for robbing a convenience store last year.
Mark Anthony Calderon, 32, must serve at least half his sentence on the aggravated robbery before being eligible for parole, officials said. He was previously convicted of evading arrest and retaliation.
“We thank the jury for its verdict and hope that this sentence will deter others who might consider this type of conduct in Hays County,” District Attorney Sherri Tibbe said in a prepared statement.
Authorities say Calderon entered the Speedy Stop in the 5000 block of Overpass Drive in February 2008, held the clerk at bay with a knife and made off with about $400.
Caught on survellience video, Calderon was identified during an investigation by Hays County Sheriffs Office Det. Angelo Florian. He was arrested in October in Corpus Christi by U.S. marshals and Neches County officers.
