San Marcos chamber asks for questions

The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce (SMACC) is asking its members to submit any questions they might have in advance of the legislative update luncheon coming up on Thursday, July 30.

Among those in attendance will be state Senator Jeff Wentworth (R-San Antonio) and state Representative Patrick Rose (D-Dripping Springs).

In a letter to the chamber membership, SMACC President Phyllis Snodgras said, “In an effort to try to help Senator Wentworth and Representative Rose cover as many areas as possible, we are asking that attendees submit their questions before the Luncheon.”

Snodgrass then included this link.

The luncheon will take place 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the City of San Marcos Conference Center at Interstate-35 and McCarty Lane. Call the chamber at (512) 393-5900 for reservations.

  1. Why should anyone show up when the questions asked will be sorted through and picked out so that anything they don’t want to talk about will not be addressed?

Is this ‘representation’ by the chamber, Rose or Wentworth?

  2. I asked my friend Terri Hall (of TURF) what questions I should ask Jeff Wentworth and this was her reply:

“Wentworth is such a bought-off snake, I’ve heard him dance around every legitimate question I can dream up. It would take a debate to really have a meaningful exchange, but needless to say, he’s repeatedly voted for every tax increase for roads imaginable (he proposed a local option tax hike that taxed everything that moves: congestion tax, charge by mile tax, non-resident tax, gas tax, registration tax, real estate transaction tax all without limit that could be raised ad nauseum). He sees no limit whatsoever to his lining the pockets of his highway lobby friends. Follow the money…”

I think she summed it up pretty well. This guy has got to go. Don’t waste your time with this event. Rose is just as bad.
