Police release composite sketch of Burleson Street rape suspect


San Marcos police have issued a composite sketch of a suspect wanted in an aggravated sexual assault that occurred during the early morning hours of Thursday, July 9 on Burleson Street.

The sketch was done with the assistance of the Austin Police Department. Anyone with information or who recognizes the suspect is asked to call the San Marcos Police Criminal Investigations division at (512) 753-2300 or 753-2108.

Police say that at approximately 12:45 a.m. on July 9, a woman awakened to a stranger sexually assaulting her in her bed. The suspect was armed with a handgun and fled the residence on foot after the assault.

Police believe the suspect entered the victim’s house through an unsecured door.

The suspect is described as  black male in his late teens or early 20’s, approximately 6’01” tall, slender, trim build, close cropped hair, and a small head with small facial features.

“We urge anyone with information about this suspect to call us,” said Cmdr. Terry Nichols, the Criminal Investigations division chief.
