San Marcos joins Eldercare fan drive

The City of San Marcos has joined Hays County and other entities in Family Eldercare’s annual summer fan drive. The fans will go to low income and medically fragile residents.

San Marcos Fire and Rescue (SMFR) will now accept donations of new fans and air conditioning equipment at all fire stations through August 31. Drop off locations are as follows:

  • Central Station 1 – 114 East Hutchison
  • Station 2 – 1314 Academy
  • Station 3 – 2420 Hunter Road
  • Station 4 – 404 Broadway

Fans that are needed for the drive are 20-inch box fans and 14-inch oscillating fans. Donated window air conditioning units will be provided to medically at risk patients.

  1. The San Marcos Housing Authority is distributing these fans directly to needy residents throughout the San Marcos Area. Employees of Texas State University’s Custodial Operations Department will pick up the fans from the San Marcos Fire Department and bring them to the San Marcos Housing Authority Resident Services Department. If you know someone who needs help staying cool, have them call us at 396-3364! — Stewart Dale Spencer, Resident Services Director, San Marcos Housing Authority
