San Marcos Academy President Dr. John Garrison recently announced several staff changes.
Monty Lewis, who served as the academy’s chief financial officer, was appointed interim vice president.
“Mr. Lewis, who has served in a number of business office capacities at the academy for more than 27 years, has an excellent background for this new position,” Garrison said. “He will assist me in the day-to-day operation of the academy so that I might spend more of my time in the critical areas of institutional advancement and development.”
Harold (Snuffy) Smith will become the assistant vice president for enrollment management and athletics.
“He (Smith) has more than 25 years experience in athletic administration and coaching” Garrison said. “He will work closely with our coaches and our athletic department staff, as well as our admissions office leadership to continue moving those programs forward. I feel that the academy is very fortunate to have someone with his background and experience to take on these additional duties.”
Kate Robbins will move into the position of associate vice president for student affairs and human resources. She has served as the academy’s human resources director since October 15, 2008.
“Mrs. Robbins comes to the academy from Texas State University where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and worked closely with the student affairs, human resources, and residence life areas for more than twenty years,” Garrison said.
Additionally, Ben Smith and Laura Paul will become the dean of boys and girls, respectively. Assisting them will be Jeffery Lloyd and Camillion McDonald, who have been appointed as assistant deans.
Garrison also announced the retirement of long-time Dean of Residence Life Kris Spillers, effective July 1.
“Dean Spillers has been an extremely valuable member of the academy staff for more than ten years,” Garrison said. “She will be greatly missed. She was a great inspiration to a generation of academy students, and all of us at the academy wish her well in her retirement.”Email | Print
