San Marcos’ own XI media, a video production company, has been named as one of 31 winners of the 2009 DV Awards.
The DV Awards is an international competition that recognizes creative and technical achievements in digital video production, such as independent films, commercials, corporate communications, industrial videos, 3D animation, special effects and event videos.
“This is a great honor and hopefully the sign of a trend as XI Media steps into it’s fifth year of operations,” said XI Media owner Dusty Kraatz.
XI Media was given the award for its work on the “Bobcat Video Network” (BVN). The web-based show followed the Texas State football team using hours of video, music and radio play by play. XI also was recognized for its work on Levi’s Fader Fort at the 2009 South by Southwest in Austin, TX. Working with Cornerstone Promotion, the five-day shoot covered more than 40 bands, including Kanye West, Common and Peter Bjorn.
“There are so many benefits to being located in a town like San Marcos, it’s a great place to work and we can serve clients up and down the (Interstate) 35 corridor with ease,” Kraatz said. “It really brings a sense of pride to be able to bring some recognition to the talent we have here in San Marcos, not just on the XI Media team, but in all media realms.
Local clients of XI Media include The Den, Jardine Foods, the San Marcos Performing Arts Association, San Marcos’ Summer in the Park, Texas State and Economic Development San Marcos. Nationally, XI represents Levi’s/Fader Magazine, National Public Radio (NPR), Microsoft, Dos Equis, Lone Star, Ernie Ball, Camel and many others.Email | Print
