Texas State shot putter Kemuel Morales took a tenth-place finish last week at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, AK.
Morales had a throw of 18.03 meters (59-02.00) on his last attempt to come away with a Top 10 finish and an All-America honor.
Morales recorded a new school record in the qualifying round, when he heaved a throw of 18.46 meters (60-6.75) on his second try to advance to the finals. He was just the second Bobcat in school history to throw more than 60 feet. The mark gave him the eighth best throw entering the finals.
Morales originally qualified for the championships after hauling a season-best throw of 18.23 meters (59-09.75), earning a bronze medal at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
