The San Marcos High School (SMHS) Rattler Band brought home several honors from the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest held on June 1 at the University of Texas.
“These students represented San Marcos very well at this contest, topping of a great year for the Strikin’ Rattler Band,” said Band Director Kelly Rushfeldt.
The percussion ensemble “Metric Lips,” consisting of Brandon Deleon, Kaari Gerber, Paul Hill and Daniel Roberts, received a first division rating.
Hill received another first division rating for his marimba solo “Etude in C Major.” Jeremy Gonzales earned a second division rating for his snare solo.
The flute ensemble “Adventures in Space,” preformed by Kasey Campa, Tianna Chandler, Maritza Collazo, Sarah Ferrara, Samantha Jennings, Kayla Key, Taylor Ralph, Samantha Scherbek and Courtney Smith, won second division standing.
Katie Burroughs, Josh Contreras and Kelsie Singleton won another second division rating for their performance of Six Trios for Clarinet by Pavel.
Jeremy Gonzalez performs a percussion solo.
