Texas State women’s basketball coach Suzanne Fox announced two more signings for her team last week with the additions of 5-foot-9 guard Stephanie Douthit from Scottsdale, AZ, and 6-2 forward Ashley Shoemaker from Houston.
Douthit averaged 19.8 points per game as a senior at Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale, earning All-Arizona second team honors from ESPNRise.com. Shoemaker averaged 11.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game at Jersey Village High School, where she made the District 15-5A first team.
The two signings during the late period bring the new recruiting class for Texas State up to six.
“I really can’t imagine any coach feeling better about her class than I do because of this group both the talent level and the quality of the character of each of these kids,” Fox said.
The Shoemaker signing was especially crucial, as the Bobcats are losing two senior post players, Kim Cessna and Brittany Wilson.
Shoemaker and 6-1 forward Alexa Hugee from Huxley, IA, are the only front-liners in this year’s recruiting class. The Bobcats also have signed swing player Anna Brzozowski, a 6-0 junior college transfer from Harrah, OK.
In addition to Douthit for the backcourt, Fox also has signed 5-9 Diamond Ford from Hightower High School in Missouri City and 5-8 guard Dawnielle Kiel from Cypress Creek.Email | Print
