Jude Prather, who announced a second run for city council in March, says he isn’t running this year after all.
Serving in the U.S. Army in Kuwait and Iraq, Prather said at the time of his announcement that he expected to be redeployed home in July. That date now appears to be August or later, too late to mount a campaign in the November election, he said.
His withdrawal leaves Texas State University academic advisor Lisa Marie Coppoletta as the only announced candidate for the place 5 seat currently held by council member Pam Couch, who has not said whether she will seek a second term. Council member John Thomaides is also up for re-election in November.
In his previous bid, Prather received 1,303 votes to incumbent Gaylord Bose’s 1,306. He conceded the loss after a recount did not change the results.
Jude, if I had a son I would hope he would have your values, morals and fortitude!
Hope to chat with you upon your return, Godspeed and may the angels guard your flank.
