Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) awarded five local students, whose parents are PEC members, $1,000 scholarships. The scholarships can be used toward expenses at any college, university, junior college, technical school or trade school.
Recipients from PEC’s Kyle District include Capitol City Baptist student Karen Cruz, Lehman High School student Naomi Arredondo, San Marcos High School student Brookney Hill and Wimberley High School students Bradley Taylor and Courtney White.
“We are dedicated to the hard-working students in our service area, and take great pride in investing in their future,” said PEC Scholarship Board President Carol Moore. “We hope our scholarships positively impact these students and helps them achieve their academic goals.”
The scholarship committee evaluated the applications based on community involvement, academic performance, standardized test results and financial need, as well as personal character and motivation. In total, PEC awarded 50 scholarships.
