The National Weather Service (NWS) has placed Hays County under a tornado watch until 1 p.m., and a flash flood watch until 4 p.m.
According to the NWS, “A very moist inflow of warm gulf air, combined with a developing boundary across Central Texas and an approaching upper air disturbance, will result in the potential for heavy rainfall today.”
NWS meteorologists warn that the area could see anywhere from two to possibly five inches of rain today, and conditions will be favorable for tornadoes. Residents are warned to avoid low-lying areas.
If a tornado strikes, avoid windows and go to a hallway, small inner room or closet for shelter.
