Aquarena Plaza breaks ground

Aquarena Plaza held its groundbreaking Friday morning. The retail project, located at the intersection of Aquarena Springs and Thorpe Lane, next to Mamacita’s Mexican Restaurant, will offer 20,000 square feet of restaurants, retail and office space.

Conceived by local developer Vance Elliot, who will also keep offices there, Aquarena Center will also feature Hot Spots Apartment Locators, Colloquium Books, Crazy Good Yogurt and Subway. The site, which Elliott acquired in late 2007, contains several large sycamore and pecan trees. The project was designed to save and feature these trees.

The owner hopes to fill the remainder of the center with tenants that support student and local neighborhood clients. 9,000 square feet have yet to be leased, including a drive-though restaurant space fronting Aquarena Plaza.

The new center was designed by Stephen J. Kramer Architects of San Antonio and HMT Engineers of New Braunfels. HighFLEX Ventures LLC, another New Braunfels company, provided development services. Christians Development of Houston is providing the construction services.

For more information about leasing, contact Darrell David at HighFLEX Ventures at (830) 625-8554.

  1. Hey Greg! George Soros said that commercial real estate will loose, on average, 30 percent of is value in the near future. How are you doing with all those empty store fronts? Loosing much money on your commercial properties? Just curious.

  2. Education in this nation must be suffering. Every day I see people substitute looses for loses. They aren’t the same, and you look like an idiot when you misuse it. Lose is not the same as loose. “Lose” means to come to be without (something in one’s possession or care), through accident, theft, etc., so that there is little or no prospect of recovery. “Loose” is to free or release from fastening or attachment.

Usually I don’t come down on spelling like this, but, as I can only assume you’re an adult, I’d like for you to at least make an effort to write like one.
